To help promote the campaign they shaved the heads of 3 staff members and used the hair to create the posters!. You can see the videos of some of the guys getting a buzz on the Ogilvy Cape Town YouTube page here!. (See one below)
If you’re in Cape Town and want to join in or donate please get in touch with us on twitter @OgilvyCT and we will get back to you with details. There is plenty of beer and entertainment at our bar on offer in exchange for a haircut / hair dye or cash donation.
Although personally I pretty much fully despise this ad its sad to say it probably will do well (its already been picked up by traditional media to help spread it). It would have been nice if they had an original idea, but it is nice to know the YouTube count for the video has stuck at only 305 views (it has about 2000 likes so the counter is just broken).
Wonderful diagram showing some of the main key stages people / brands need to look at when planning social media campaigns. The strat overview guide was done by US based social media agency Getit Comms,
Motorola have been pretty dormant for the last few years but this year they are back with a vengeance. The new Motorola Atrix Andriod phone was shown recently at CES to great applause, and more recently released in the States, and parts of Europe, it will be coming to South Africa soon. The phone has a dual core processor, 1GB Ram, a 4” qHD screen, and 16GB on-board memory that is expandable to 48GB.
To me what sets this apart are the incredible ways you can dock it with other devices making it a real laptop replacement for some. Motorola have released a small dock station with 3 USB ports, an HDMI out, and a charge point, You can use this to connect your phone to a screen, keyboard, and mouse and use the phones webtop application to browse the web and other applications (it includes a full PC grade firefox browser, Flash10 support, and much more). You can also use it as a media hub with the supplied remote control so you can watch movies, share pictures, or give presentations etc. They have also released a laptop deck that’s essentially a thin laptop shell with battery allowing the phone to be docked in a cradle at the back so you can again use the webtop app to use your phone as you would a normal computer.

Great work for Cravendale by Wieden + Kennedy London. They posed the question “Why do cats stare when you’re pouring milk?”. If there is one thing the internet loves, its cat videos so hardly surprising that even with hardly any PR the clip above has already had over 35,000 view after only 1 day!.
The Martin Agency has come up with an innovative use of chewing gum and a group of seven young sculptors. In an effort to promote Mentos’ new large gum bottle using facebook they gave the top 2 sculptures a chance to get their work featured in a print and showcased the other creations on their facebook page. Nice work guys.
(Above Possibly NSFW) Great work by Serviceplan, Munich, Germany for Liaison Dangereuse. In order to increase sales over this years Valentine’s day period they created an online strip show featuring the companies lingerie on the bodies of some beautiful models. The clever part was that in order for the chaps to see their model “bare all” they had to buy the relevant Lingerie for their better half.
The results increased traffic to the website by 150% and sales jumped up by a further 50% !
The billboard allows people to handle and explore miniaturised 3D ‘virtual’ models of the cars on screen and in the palm of their hand. Virtual buttons allow the user to choose the colour of the car, open doors, fold the seats flat, turn the car 360 degrees and select demos of the car’s key features such as Active Park Assist. The system works by using a combination of a Panasonic D-Imager camera and custom Augmented Reality software. The activation will be in 6 malls around the UK for the next 2 weeks.
