Costa Coffee: No Monkey Business

Wonderful new campaign for CostaCoffee, by Karmarama, UK. Using lots of Monkeys out of control in an ad, and having a chap like Bill Nighy as the voiceover artist is pretty much guaranteed to be a hit.

Ads of the week

As I have been a little slack with my postings this week I thought I would make a brief catch up post with some of the campaigns that have caught my eye so far this last week.

1.  UK artist Banksy creates a fun and controversial Simpsons cartoon intro.

2. Air New Zealand creates a great online campaign (inc a game) to highlight the design and traveller minded interiors, seats and service in Air NZ’s new B77-300s (By Albion, London). To see their sample banner ads click here or here.

3. VW’s new  ad from New Zealand entitled “Milk Run” by DDB.

4. The new campaign by Crispin Porter + Bogusky for the new Windows Phone 7 platform (I want to try one now if your listening Microsoft 🙂 )

5. XBox 360’s Fable III Revolution campaign by Agency Two Fifteen. (Again Microsoft, I want )

6. 3M Scotch Tape 69 print ad for double sided tape.  From Ogilvy, San Jose, USA.3m scotch 69

Normal service will resume shortly. Thanks for taking the time to scroll this far and have a wonderful day.

Tropical beer: Worlds Largest Beach Towel

Lovely digital interactive effort from Leo Burnett, Iberia for Tropical beer. For the camping they basically set out to make the Guinness world record for the worlds largest beach towel, and have a party on it to celebrate (with Tropical beer). They allocated spaces on the towel for the event using facebook and through the app let people choose their exact place on the towel.

online conversations became real world ones and the record was broken, have a look at the video above to find out more.

Mitsubishi: Outlander Sport Live drive

Great work from 180 L.A. for Mitsubishi, they have created the world’s first online test drive of an actual vehicle. 180 L.A cleverly rigged a new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport car with robotic remote controls so anyone with a valid drivers licence can test drive it from the the comfort of their own computer. The microsite will become active on the 15th October, and then the actual test drives will be available from November 1 – 10.

The online test drives will all be recorded and you will be able to see where you are going via a series of onboard video cameras. Go to outlandersport.com later in the month to sign up and get a code for your first virtual test drive.

IKEA: Happy Inside (Cat website)

Ikea Cats website Ikea Cats website3Ikea Cats website4 Ikea Cats website2

More great work from Mother, London’s "Happy Inside" campaign for IKEA after last months cat TV ad, where 100 cats were let loose into a flag ship London IKEA for the night. They have now launched an online component to the campaign. where you are challenged you to match a cat from the TV ad with the relevant furniture they took a liking too, if you guess correctly you win that item of furniture for free.  The site is very slick and simple, it integrates with facebook and YouTube nicely, and you can even download free cat wallpapers for your computer or watch behind the scenes footage of the cats and more. Go to http://cats.ikea.com/ to check it out for yourself.

The competition is only available to people in the UK, however you can play the game just for fun from anywhere.

Fable III: Kingmaker Mobile Game

kingmaker mobileMcCann London, has recently launched a fantastic new campaign to get people geared up for the launch of Fable III. The campaign is called Kingmaker, and is essentially a location based, multi player, social, mobile phone-based game. In the game players can claim territory for one of the games’ two rival factions – Royals and Rebels by dropping flags through the mobile app. Players that complete tasks and claim/seize land using the virtual flag markers, then get rewarded with gold pieces that can be used as currency in the real game using your Xbox when it launches on October 29th.

All you need to do to play is register online at www.Fable3Kingmaker.com, and then download the relevant app for your Android, iPhone, Symbian or Windows Phone 7. At present the game seems to only be available in the UK and 6 European countries, but if Microsoft and Xbox are clever then I’m sure they will open it up to other markets as already people are commenting on YouTube,Twitter and Facebook that they want a chance to play too. Great job McCann.

2010 Loerie awards logoFor those who have never heard of the Loerie Awards before they are basically the main advertising awards for agencies based in Africa and the Middle East. The Loeries recognise the best creative work in every area of brand communication including television, radio and print advertising, graphic design, architecture, direct marketing, non-broadcast video, live events, and digital media.

Top South African Agencies

Big thank you to the organisers for putting on such a wonderful event and glad to see creativity in South Africa is alive and well.

Virgin Atlantic: Got it

this new great advert for Virgin Atlantic is due to air in the UK later tonight and in the USA later in the month so thought I would give you a short advance on the screening. This time they go for a James Bond opening credits styled approach. Personally, Love it.

Bonds: Fathers day underwear

First off don’t panic, Fathers day is not near us again (its normally in June for most of the world). However in Australia they celebrate it on the first Sunday of September. This year the chaps at The Campaign Palace in Sydney, created the above wonderfully fun prints for Bonds clothing store. No matter what your dad likes in these prints he always ends up with underwear. Click on any of them to see the larger image.

2010 Loeries: facebook Like Campaign

like car guard Like Long street cafe me Like

South Africa’s main advertising awards event, The Loeries,  is taking place this weekend in Cape Town and one of the underground campaigns to help create conversations about the awards is a facebook “Like” button mechanism. The idea is simple, find things you like around town and stick “Like” stickers on them, and if you feel like winning a new iPod Nano touch then you can upload pictures of the stickers to the facebook fan page, or to twitter with the #ilikeloeries hashtag. Nice work from digital agency, Liquorice.

To find out more go to: http://www.facebook.com/ilikeloeries or follow the “Like on twitter at http://twitter.com/ilikeloeries.

If anyone is looking for stickers let me know as have a bunch of them on me.
