Remax main site REMAX iPadREMAX iPad Banners    My Blog

RE/MAX, one of South Africa’s largest property companies recently launched a great yet simple online campaign aimed at the blogging community, with the prize being a new Apple iPad 3G. All bloggers have to do is go to http://remax.co.za/Blog-To-Win/, register your blog URL, name, and email address, then simply pick a banner that can fit on your site and copy the embed code across to your site. The blogger that sends the most traffic through the banners to the RE/MAX main site wins the new iPad 3G! The traffic taken to the main site helps publicise a nation wide campaign for people to win a R100,000 home makeover, as well as tones of instant prizes such as spa days, magazine subscriptions, and golf days.

RE/MAX also this year partnered up with the SA Blog Awards as a sponsor, and after chatting to their incredible CEO, Adrian Goslett, it’s clear that they are one of the few social media savvy property companies out there. To stand a chance to win the iPad 3G just go to http://remax.co.za/Blog-To-Win/, and follow the instructions (screen shots of the mechanism to entry are posted above with links).

Volkswagen Vento: Talking Newspaper Ad

Volkswagen, India, recently came up with a novel way to start a conversation, they created the first talking newspaper ad in India. When readers of two of India’s top newspapers namely The Hindu, and The Times of India, opened their newspaper they were greeted by a talking ad for the new VW Vento.

The light-sensitive speaker weighing no more than a mere 10-15 grams was stuck onto the back page of the newspapers attached to a print ad for the new VW Vento. Am not sure of the cost of this exercise (High) but it certainly seems to have generated a lot of online chatter in India around VW, time will tell if it was worth it. See the print ad below or watch the video to see the device in action.volkswagen_vento

Audi Quattro: Magnet Cars

Great PR stunt by Lowe Roche, Canada, for Audi. To show how well the legendary Audi quattro all-wheel drive system sticks to the road they attached Super-powerful rare-earth magnets to miniature models of Audi vehicles, which were then stuck on metal surfaces in the midst of the crowds attending the Toronto International Film Festival. After people struggled to pry the cars free, they see a message on the bottom of the car: "Nothing sticks like quattro."

Infographic: The Colours of the Web

Interesting infographic of the webs top 100 brands and  the colours that those brands use. Interesting to see that blue is still the colour of choice online as it is offline (look at most crowds of people and you will see the majority of them will be wearing blue).

Read a fascinating detailed report on this infographic by the makers (ColourLovers.com) by clicking here.

South African Homeless World Cup team needs your help

We’ve recently learned from the MAL Foundation that the South African Homeless Team has qualified for the Homeless World Cup 2010 in Rio. The team won the City Cup last year and are hoping for more success this year.

Unfortunately the team doesn’t have the funds to make the trip. This is incredibly sad, for a country who has done so much, we would really like to support all our teams.

Let’s help these men bring home the glory, not just for South Africa, but for the men themselves – as the Homeless World Cup is about more than just a football festival, it’s about giving people a second chance and improving the lives of the less fortunate everywhere.

Sony Ericsson: X10 Product Testing Institute

To help market the new X10 Sony Ericsson android phone in the USA, Dare, New York, filmed 5 YouTube clips looking at fun mock focus group testing. The X10 was tested by Models, Guidos, Surfers, Glam Rockers, and Toddlers (as above). Each focus group clip showed unique features that the X10 possesses compared to its competitors such as the iPone, HTC EVo, and Blackbery’s.

Personally my X10 is still going swimmingly well, although I was very impressed with the X10 mini the other day, its the same size as a credit card, fast, and surprisingly easy to type with despite its size!
