Fallon, London have given the new Skoda Fabia vRS commercial a nice bad boy make over. Who wouldn’t want to buy a car with alloy wheels made of samurai swords, with a barbed wire radiator grill, and that’s powered by a psychotic snake filled engine.
T-Mobile: Welcome Home (Heathrow viral video)
T-Mobile are at in again with a new flash mob campaign, this time giving travellers a memorable welcome home at Heathrow’s Terminal 5. The commercial was filmed using just vocal performers and no instruments, pretty impressive when you watch the end product. Previous flash mobs from T-Mobile have seen them dancing at Liverpool street station in London, and staging a mass karaoke sing along in Trafalgar Square.
If this is the same agency behind it as their last stunts then a congrats to Saatchi & Saatchi London are in order.
Studio Brussels: Best Sex Ever
Interesting approach to a TV ad from Belgium agency Mortierbrigade Brussels. In the clip above you see a geeks inner beast mind unleashed for local Brussels radio station Studio Brussels. Nice.

Fortum: Interactive Fortum Gym
It’s a little late for me to writing about this but I only just saw it now and the above campaign by the Advertising School Berghs School Of Communication, Sweden is stunning. They used all forms of social media platforms and a real life activation to turn a local energy company called Fortum into a fun, interactive, giving brand. If only all energy companies could be this great. Not surprisingly the campaign won a gold at the Clio awards and a Future Lion at Cannes.
Stimorol: Infinity
Stimorol Infinity is a new innovative type of chewing gum that is being marketed as one of the longest lasting chewing gum ever created. The above fun spot was created by Cadbury South Africa in conjunction with Ogilvy Cape Town, the commercial illustrates the effect that chewing Stimorol Infinity has on a run-of-the-mill grocery shopping excursion.
The new gum also comes in some great packaging, see the picture below from the press pack Ogilvy kindly sent me.
VW Amarok: As The Crow Flies
Nice new spot for the imminent release of the VW Amarok pick up truck or bakkie as they say in South Africa.
The film was shot over over a week in the Northern Cape surrounds and sees pro rally driver Sarel Van Der Merwe and his wingman, SA Rally hotshot Gugu Zulu test drive over some particularly rough terrain. The car did in fact drive over all the terrain for real in the making of the commercial.
Nice work from Ogilvy Cape Town and Velocity Films.
MINI: Getaway Stockholm (Win a MINI Countryman)
Stockholm agency Jung von Matt have just created a fantastic iPhone app called “Getaway Stockholm”. Basically its a mobile augmented reality game of tag. You find a virtual MINI Countryman on the map and then virtually grab it with the app, next you run away and try not to let anyone else get within 50ft of you or they can take the virtual Mini off you. The person who has the virtual Mini when the game ends on the 7th November gets to win a real MINI Countryman.
The game starts in Stockholm on 31st October and runs till the 7th November, click here to download the iPhone app. (Hopefully this game will be played out in other cities around the world too)
ArtFoco: Strip Show Eye Test
Lovely eye test poster for ArtFoco from Almap BBDO in Sao Paulo. Although the print is from 2007 I still thought it worth sharing with you.
(Possibly NSFW if you have the eyes of an eagle)
FirstBank: Free books QR code billboards
FirstBank has placed these clever Billboards around Denver airport to allow travellers to download free books and crossword puzzles via their mobile phone using QR codes. If you want to try it for yourself just click on any of the pictures above to zoom in and try the codes out for yourself (a QR code reader will be needed). People can also go to http://firstbankfree.com/ to download any of the books for free.
Nice work from TDA Advertising & Design, Boulder. The agency is reckoning that they will get around 7000 downloads in the 5 months they are running the campaign, personally I think that is a little low. Help prove me right and start downloading your free books here. (Books include classics such as The Art of War, Treasure Island, The Call of the Wild, The Last of the Mohicans, and Moby-Dick)
Corona Light: Facebook Times Square billboard
Lovely viral idea by Pereira & O’Dell for Corona Light Beer. Corona are giving the opportunity for anyone to appear on a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square, all people have to do is “Like” their facebook fan page and upload a picture. The pictures will be rotated between November 8 and December 6. When you upload your picture for the campaign you also get an option for Corona Light to notify you when its up, they do this by sending an image of your picture in Times Square to your wall.
This kind of idea has been done before but not in quite the same facebook friendly fashion. Personally I think this will be a huge success, as people get mailed their picture from Times Square they will almost certainly share it with their friends, and I’m sure a good deal of them will post it to their profile picture.
So far they have managed to amass almost 80,000 fans! To try it out just click here.
Congrats Corona and Pereira & O’Dell, very clever.
