Great infographic by http://www.onlineschools.org/. Although the data is a little old (facebook has well over 500 million users already) and its pretty USA related it still gives a useful snapshot of the most western worlds most loved social network.
Trend Hunters top 20 trends in 2011 (and mine)
Happy 2011 everybody, thought you might like to see some of the trends predicted by Trend Hunter. Personally I think the following:
- Much hotter competition/spending in the social media space as agencies/brands hone their skills.
- A lot more interactive mobile based work will be produced as smart phones continue to prosper.
- Aggregation of social media spaces/apps. Basically brands/companies that succeed will allow / find ways to bring our different social spaces together, making it simper and painless to share / find content.
- More online platforms and less microsite thinking will emerge.
- Gaming (mobile in particular) will become a well used medium for education and interactive advertising.
- More activations and events being crowd sourced / organised online but acted out in the real world, e.g. flash mob sales events etc.
- Location based marketing will become very clever and accurate (Think of the rise of smartphones and Facebook Places)
- Ogilvy Cape Town will be the best at integrated above/below the line campaigns and change the world. (Slight bias as am working with them but can see no reason why not)
Thank you to you all for taking the time to read my ramblings and I wish you all a hugely successful, happy and inspirational 2011.
T-Mobile: Hoff Merry Christmas
Hope everyone had a stunning Christmas. Just thought I would share this festive clip from one of the brands that has done consistently great campaigns this year, namely T-Mobile. This time they have teamed up with the Hoff to sing some freestyle Christmas songs.
Have a wonderful Boxing day.
(Congrats Saatchi, London for the great T-Mobile work)
iGO: Santa Infographic
Stunning infographic by sat nav makers iGO and their agency Benedict & Helfer, Hungary. I especially love the way they worked out Santa has 0.0005 seconds to visit each house.
BMW: Image Burn Cinema ad
Innovative work by BMW and their Munich based agency; Serviceplan. Basically they temporarily burned an image of the BMW logo onto the eyes of unsuspecting cinema goers using flash during a pre-movie ad. Not sure if this could be misunderstood as a bit evil in some parts of the world though, but seems the Germans were happy.
Sorry for the inconsistent posts at the moment but am on holiday back in England so am not getting to my PC that often. Will be back everyday again from the 4th Jan. Happy Christmas.
The Digital Nativity Story (Christmas 2.0)
Just received the above fun video showing what the birth of Jesus could have been like if re-enacted in a digital world. Thanks to Victoria Hutchinson from Ogilvy labs for the heads up.
Virgin Atlantic: Love is in the Air
After just getting off a stunning Virgin flight from Cape Town back home to London I thought this new campaign by RKCR/Y&R London for Virgin Atlantic might be appropriate. Virgin have recently launched a new Flight tracker iPhone app and the above TV spot is to help draw attention to it. The new app is available for download here. It allows people to check in to flights, see flight status, track flight positions in real time around the world, play games, and watch location specific tourist videos.
Butterfly: WikiLeaks
Nice lounge in cheek print ad from Butterfly Sanitary pads. No further explanation is needed, just see the above. Nice work from RG Blue.
