Was sent this from one of the creatives here at Ogilvy Cape Town and thought I would share it. It’s a film of an outdoor promo they did near the end of last year for a bit of fun for Volkswagen that has been made into a short video clip.
In South Africa people have been complaining that they cant get away from the Cell-C Trevor Noah ad campaign, but the above spot from Belgium ad agency Duval Guillaume have taken evasive advertising to another level. To advertise Alfa Romeo’s new Giulietta they created some remote control ad boards that followed people around shopping centres with the copy “There’s no getting away from an offer this good”. Cell-C, your move.
Velocity films have just released the above case study/awards entry video for Telkom’s mobile operator arm, namely 8.ta.
The agency behind the campaign is McCann South Africa, nice work chaps. (If anyone from McCann South Africa is reading please sort out your sites SEO, you don’t even turn up on the first page of google for the term “McCann South Africa”, if you need help contact Neo@Ogilvy)
Starbucks now allows people in the USA to pay via mobile using their Blackberry, iPhone, or iPhone Touch. (See video above for app run through)
The system works by you downloading the Starbucks app, then securely transferring cash from your credit card to the app, next when your in the store you make your order, select the pay button on the app which generates a unique barcode, scan the code at the counter and the relevant amount will be deducted from your account.
Local trials over the last couple of months proved successful enough for it to go national and the pick up according to Starbucks company Vice President Brady Brewer has been good. Will be interested to see where this goes. Watch this space for virtual wallets.
Nice multimedia campaign by McCann London for Shredded Wheat cereals (How have they not got a website!, had to link to Wikipedia), always nice to see tech used in a usually traditional print space. Bit boring on the creative but am sure it make a great deal more impact than the standard print ads people are used to seeing on their way around town.
Great parody of a case study video by Toronto based agency John St. Love the creative use of a truly through the line campaign. Lesson learned, its not rocket science.
