Old Spice:Scent Vacation

This new pre-release Old Spice ad was given to fan Chris Gatewood to do as he wanted before general public launch. He decided to ask people to follow him on Twitter and in return be given the link to the new ad. Well here it is for your viewing glory. Wieden + Kennedy milking it.

Infographic: Cell C weekend maintenance down times

Was just sent this image from Cell C and thought I would share it with you , not just because if you’re a Cell C user it will be helpful, but also because I think its a novel way to show how the network will be affected by their upgrade shutdown.

Below is a copy of the basics of the email I was sent: “Cell C is upping their game this weekend by upgrading their billing and customer services – this may impact Cell C customers this weekend, see the Infographic attached for details.”Cell C Infographic

Bud Light: Smooth World

This above demo for a Bud Light facebook app looks hilarious but I fear its just a moc up as the people behind are from Advertising school Escola Cuca, São Paulo, Brazil. Either way a fab use of a real life friendly rating system converted to a online solution. (The voice over guy sounds a bit OTT)

VW Passat: The Force

Great work for Volkswagen by Deutsch LA. The above spot is due to air during the upcoming Super Bowl and is already becoming an online favourite, after just 1 day the video has already racked up almost 2 million views. The ad features a kid dressed as Darth Vader, and his dad surprising him with the new remote start feature on the Passat. Great work.

Infographic: Cellphone Usage + SA Mobile Stats

Another great Infographic below, this time for cellphone usage. Although the stats are from the USA its still pretty impressive to read some of the stats, I particularly love the way calling has become a massively declining feature. Below I have listed for you some of the interesting stats on cellphone use in South Africa:Via onlineitdegree

  • SA is ranked 5th in World for mobile data usage (1st is Russia, 7th is USA!)
  • 30% of mobile users in SA are active on facebook via their phones (200 million globally)
  • 50% of SA facebook users access it via mobile
  • In 2009 there were 2.8 billion please call me’s (USSD)
  • There are more mobile phones in SA than Taxis+TV’s+Radios combined
  • More active sim cards than citizens (Different operators sim cards are used at different times of the day depending on call/text/data cost)

Infographic: Foursquare 2010

foursquare_2010

Foursquare had a busy year last year and have been having a good start to 2011. At the beginning of 2010 they had just over 600,000 users, by the end of the year that total had risen to over 6,000,000!. Earlier this month they launched a comments section for check-ins and now allow users to add photos to locations too. The response to the picture feature has been pretty impressive with users uploading over 1million photos within the first 3 weeks of launch.

I know a lot of people comment that Facebook places and Google Places will spell Foursquare’s demise, however personally I feel they will be fine. My main belief in this is because along with the constant innovations they are creating in the space, they also integrate foursquare so well into twitter and facebook, but most of all its the gaming element, people all over the world seem to love fighting for mayor-ships, getting rewarded for loyalty at more and more foursquare specials locations every month, as well as collecting the many fun badges they offer. If anyone from Foursquare is reading, well done guys, and all the best for the future.

Wikipedia: The story so far

Bear Grylls: Degree for Men

The worlds most popular ex SAS, adventure loving Old Etonian Bear Grylls uses his documentary skills in the above advertisement for Degree deodorant for men. I hear after the last shot in this ad that the wolves came around the corner in attack mode, but luckily Bear is a black belt at wolf wrestling so after a small struggle they retreated away whimpering.
