As an Englishman and so therefore obviously a tea lover, this above activation by Tetley tea in Canada spoke to me in a marvellous way.
The activation is for Tetley Infusions (a new liquid tea from Tetley), and was put together by john st, Canada. In order to stand out Tetley hired a team of personal shoppers for the day to snap people out of their shopping routine and lend a helping hand. Wonderful work. More wonderful work from King James for Allan Gray investments. The ad is a long awaited replacement for the much loved and awarded James Dean commercial from the same agency (See that here). Well done Alistair King, Paige Nick, and the rest of the crew, lovely work.
For the last few weeks Old Spice has been publicising its new Old Spice guy, Fabio, who has been mocking the original Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa. As seen above Fabio has challenged Isaiah to a challenge. Isaiah as you can see below has accepted. To view the match live go to http://www.youtube.com/OldSpice at 12pm EST (6pm UK time, 7pm SA time).
Recently Sony Ericsson Kindly sent me their latest top of the line smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia™ Arc. Although the handset weighs about the same as a spec of dust and feels a bit plasticy it’s actually surprisingly rugged and certainly is one very powerful smartphone.
The Arc runs Android 2.3 gingerbread, and comes complete with a stunningly fast 8mp camera (with 720p HD video), BRAVIA®Engine 4.2 inch multi-touch screen, and has an Exmor R™ sensor which enables you to shoot pictures/HD videos even in low light, they also provide an in-built HDMI connector for linkage to your TV.
Overall this is the first Sony Ericsson smartphone I have tried that can easily hold its own against its many competitors from the likes of Samsung and HTC. It’s battery last 2 days with normal use, its durable, sexy, and even though it only has a Snapdragon 1 GHz CPU you can still play games, and use apps with no evident lag. If you want a reliable, stylish smart phone with an incredible camera, then you can’t do much better than the Sony Ericsson Arc.
To show just how vast a job the NSRI in South Africa have to deal with, Ogilvy Cape Town created this poster of the land and sea, with coloured text denoting the different areas on a map that are looked after by other authorities (i.e Police, Forestry commission etc.). The ad then listed a short SMS code for donations.
To highlight the fact you can now test for HIV with just a drop of blood from your finger JWT, Paris have created this rather porno/odd video. Would have loved to have been in that pitch to client. They have also created a rather funny website where you can interact with the animation, to try it out go to http://www.sexyfingers.org
One of the things I help do at Ogilvy is to bring in external great inspirational guys and girls to help educate our staff more on the digital marketing world. The above clip is from the ever helpful Justin Hartman, co-founder of Social Code, who kindly popped by to give us a talk on the ROI of Social Media. If you want to learn something on the new media landscape its a great way to spend 25mins of your time. Enjoy
Ads for video games have come a long way, and the above for Forza Motorsport 4 is a great example. Love the Kinect integration and can’t wait to try this out when its finally released in October.
Nice work by Grey for Cannon cameras. They are giving 8 people the chance to Inspire a production made by carrot top director Ron Howard. All people had to do was submit a picture, then 8 are being chosen, and our ginger friend Ron will work his magic using the pics as inspiration for a short film.
