Xbox Smartglass Demo

In the last year there’s been a lot of talk about the rise and importance of second screen devices (i.e. people watching TV while chatting to friends about the programme on their phone at the same time). Well now Microsoft is launching Xbox SmartGlass. The system basically allows you to transfer content real time to other devices, and then use your second screen to show additional content, or even act as a controller for whatever it is you are doing.

For now this will just be for Windows 8 devices, however SmartGlass will soon also work with Apple and Android devises.Watch the clip above, I really think this is just the start of something that will revolutionise the way we consume and interact with content and media. Well done Microsoft!. Change the world, or go home.

American Express: The Young Professionals Project

Can’t remember ever seeing a Bank make a music video as an ad before so thought I’d better chare this. American Express Israel is helping to promoting The Young Professionals Project and has chosen to focus and guide nine young professionals for a year, providing them with valuable professional guidance, as well as a variety of tools and offers that will help bring them to their full potential. The launching of the campaign started with a music clip in collaboration with TYP – an Israeli electro pop band made up of producer Johnny Goldstein and singer/songwriter/producer Ivry Lider.

Coca-Cola Zero: Unlock the 007 in you

Great activation from Coke Zero, they challenged unsuspecting train passengers to unlock the 007 in them for their chance to win exclusive tickets for the new James Bond movie SKYFALL.
However, the tickets weren’t free. People had to go the extra mile and unlock their inner 007 in less than 70 seconds to win.

Clorets Pure: Biker

Was walking through our studio today at Ogilvy Cape Town and saw this rather funny clip for Clorets Pure chewing gum, the tagline is "Clorets Pure. Purifies any mouth". The above is my favourite, but if you like this there are two more:- Mob Boss, and Drill Sergeant. Enjoy.

Heineken: The Express

For the imminent launch of the latest James Bond film “Sky Fall”, Wieden & Kennedy have launched the above TV / YouTube ad for Heineken that links into a Facebook game they have also created called Crack The Case. It’s pretty simple but as I’m a Bond fan I thought I’d better share it none the less.

HOW TO CREATE A GREAT BRAND BY ASKING ‘STUPID’ QUESTIONS

I normally try and find a great ad each day and post it here, but this is better than any of the ads that came out (Apart from a great new VW one from my own Ogilvy Cape Town, but I can’t share that one yet so this will have to do). It’s a great entertaining talk from the PSFK conference in London last week and is by Dan Germain who co-founded the Innocent Drinks brand. Their story is a great lesson in brand storytelling, trying new things, and the importance of having fun, and the brand is currently the 1 ranked social brand in the UK. Enjoy.

Intouch: Car VS Piano

Wonderful interactive case study all the way from Russia. In order to prove how unpredictable car accidents are, BBDO created a live 24/7 web broadcast for car insurer, Intouch Insurance. A 359 KG grand piano was suspended from nine ropes above a car in a Moscow garage over seven days. Twice a day people could vote on a live 24/7 broadcast on carvspiano.ru, for an unpredictable real event resulting in one rope being cut. For example: if the temperature in Moscow rose to+21C one rope could be cut etc. A live Twitter feed was projected on the wall and a timer clock kept the audience intrigued, waiting for the next rope to be cut-or not.

Coke: Dance Vending Machine

Coca Cola’s latest fun giving vending machine can be found in South Korea. The Machine dishes out free Cokes for people who complete certain dance moves, the harder the moves, the more Cokes are given out.
