Water is Life: #FirstWorldProblems

Brilliant work by DDB New York for charity Water is Life. They recently launched what they are calling a "Hashtag Killer" campaign, which sets out to eradicate the ironic #firstworldproblems meme in order to raise awareness about serious developing world issues.

The agency gathered various #FirstWorldProblem tweets and then approached people in Haiti to recite them in an anthem video. But perhaps even more affecting is the campaign’s series of personalized responses, in which various Haitians console those who have used the hashtag on Twitter. The responses will be delivered by Water is Life as well as a number of celebrities like LMFAO, Christina Millian, and Others.

Fun idea from London’s New York Bakery company. To help promote their bagel selection they installed a bagel grabber machine in Hoxton Square. All people had to do was play the game in order to secure a free plain, cinnamon and raisin, or sesame bagel. For more info check out their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/newyorkbakery

Halls: Wire Car

This was one of the first new ads I saw from our Ogilvy Cape Town office when I got back and am glad to say it’s another cracker. This time it’s a fun one for Halls Menthol Eucalyptus mints. Enjoy.

Nando’s: Anthem (Nkalakatha)

Another fun local ad from Nando’s, this time celebrating the national anthem Nando’s style. Work by Black River FC (Who really need to get a website already, has said under construction for over a year)

Midttrafik: The Bus commercial

After being away for a month I was looking forward to seeing some of the funny ads I may had missed while I was away. The above is the best I could find, it’s made for a Danish Bus company called Midttrafik by m2film and is wonderfully over the top. Enjoy.

Infographic: The Evolution of the Internet 2002-2012

I think this is the first large infographic I have seen as an animated GIF file, am surprised there are not more. The infographic shows the evolution of the internet from 2002 to 2012. I’m constantly fascinated by the speed of change and innovation the world wide web has bought about, the below infographic helps visualise it + I think shows how long we have still have to go.

On Holiday

Am off for a few weeks taking in the sights and sounds of LA, Austin, New Orleans, Raleigh, Key West, and New York, so apologies for the rather intermittent posts.
All the very best from the land of Randys Doughnuts.
