Solo: Largest Message in a Bottle

Solo, an Orange soft drink from from Norway recently launched the worlds largest message in a bottle. The bottle is filled with a 12 square meter letter and a case of Solo (of course). The object is to let the wind and ocean currents decide who gets to find it and taste the Solo.

Fans can make a guess where it will end up, as well as follow live 360deg image feed from the bottles adventure at www.solo.no/eng

Wi-Fi Poster

South Korean movie distributer CJ Entertainment mostly used posters to publicise their movies, however they were ineffective, so their ad agency Cheil decided to try something a little different.

They installed routers behind the posters, turning them into Wi-Fi hotspots. When people logged on, they were taken to a mobile friendly site giving extra content on the film (Events / Ticket Sales / Trailers etc). Wi-Fi poster increased the film’s official website traffic by 28.5%.
Time spent on the websites by Wi-Fi poster visitors was 5 time longer than regular visitors’.

Seat: The SEAT Taxi Fare

Wonderful experiential work from Grey advertising. To help promote Seats brake energy recovery system they created Taxi’s meters that were rigged to save money on your fare every time the taxi braked. Watch peoples reaction in the clip above.

Maes: A barrel of Maes for everyone with the name Maes

Maes is Belgium’s second most popular beer but also Belgium’s 3rd most common surname. So since there is no joy in being second Maes beer gave a free barrel of Maes to all the people with the name Maes in Belgium. They just had to sign up on Facebook, choose a pub and share the date – and their beer – with at least 22 friends. The campaign was created by TBWA, Brussels, and did very well. The Facebook fanpage made it into the 6% most active pages worldwide, 1 out 20 Belgians visited the website, and the amount of fans tripled in 1 day.Great work.

Samsung: King of TV

Wonderful work by for Samsung Smart TV’s, a new range of voice and gesture controlled televisions. The ad was shot in Cape Town and was made by USA agency CHI & Partners. For some odd reason I keep wanting to watch it again and again.

Facebook Home Overview and Ads

Last week Facebook’s commander in chief, Mark Zuckerberg, launched Facebook Home.

Basically Home is going to be a app with a difference. The Facebook Home app will act as the main Screen on your phone, displaying newsfeed items with large images, as well as conversations / messages. The app integrates throughout the phones software, so even if you are playing a game in another app you can still easily chat to your Facebook friends without closing the app and switching to Facebook.

Below are the two ads from W+K made for the launch of Facebook Home.

The app launches on the USA’s Android’s Google Play store on the 12th April, Facebook plans to roll out the launch of Facebook Home on Windows Phones, and iPhones at a later date. To read more about Home just visit https://www.facebook.com/home

The Most Powerful Arm Ever Invented

Great work, and for a noble cause. Children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy suffer from progressive deterioration of their muscles. This is why The Most Powerful Arm, a bionic arm was created. With this robotic arm you can help them by signing a petition to the Australian government, asking them to start important research on the crippling disease.

The arm is publicly installed in Sydney’s Customs House and takes your signature via the Facebook login. It then signs the petition for you, using the original handwriting of one of the children affected, Jacob Lancaster. A camera then takes a picture of each signature and posts it to your Facebook wall.

Please add your signature at TheMostPowerfulArm.com

Hat Tip to Adverblog for the work.

Coca Cola: Love Is In The Air – Valentines Day

Coca-Cola created the above gift for Valentines day. Although I imagine all this is very staged (Unless they didn’t worry about flying coke cans breaking things and hurting people), the idea is still nice. Filmed by MoFilm, UK.
