Microsoft and Ford get together

Ford, the company that bought us the car, and Microsoft, the company that bought us the computer as we know it, have teamed up.
Together they aim to bring much of the connectivity of a personal computer into a car’s cockpit using a hands-free Bluetooth wireless system and in-vehicle operating system developed by Microsoft. The new system, to be dubbed Sync, will allow for hands-free cellphone communication and other wireless information transfers inside the car, including the ability to receive email and download music.
The product will debut in the Focus range in late 07 and they aim to have the system as a option on all models by 2008.
Who knows if WiMax comes along soon the system could be linked to the cars general diagnostics computer and tell the driver when new tyres, Oil, or maintenance services are needed and point you to the nearest or cheapest place to fix the problem!.
More info and the official release will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show and the Consumer Electronics Show later in January.
