Volkswagen: Street Quest

Street Quest

Our digital@Ogilvy team have just launched the Volkswagen Street Quest.

Street Quest is a Facebook challenge to find and ‘Pin’ as many Volkswagens on South African roads as possible, using Google’s Street View application. The game is played over four weeks and each week the user with the most correct ‘Pins’ will earn a spot in Street Quest Grand Final, a live playoff of the game, and stand a chance to win a R50,000 digital hamper including a MacBook Air, iPad, iPhone, and 46” Samsung LED TV.

Try it for your self at http://bit.ly/StreetQuest.

Nissan: Househunter Test-Drive

Interesting experiment in contextual online adverting by TBWA\RAAD Dubai. To try and tempt house buyers to test drive new Nissans they linked a car configurator to a popular online house hunting website. The site suggested relevant Nissan cars based on the house the individual was browsing for, and then when they booked a showing of the house, they could get a test drive in the relevant car along the way. Although they seem to have matched the vehicles well and got more test drives, I’m suspicious that the case study makes no mention of an increase in actual car sales.

Razorfish: Digital Gum Ball Machine

Wonderful quick prototype project by Razorfish Germany. Using a Galexy Tab, an old Gum Ball machine, and a few other bits and bobs they have found an innovative way to sell and distribute digital content to NFC enabled phones. Check out how an old gum ball vending machine became a virtual goodie box.

Amstel Lager: The Boxer

Just watched this new fantastic Amstel Larger ad from ad agency OwenKessel, and thought I should share it with you, great beer ad. The ad was produced by the ever wonderful Velocity Films in South Africa.

Adidas: Ajax Fake Fitting Room

Pretty risky activation by Adidas and Ajax. They installed fake fitting rooms into the Adidas store in Amsterdam for the new Ajax football jersey launch. The rooms had two-way mirrors and cameras installed (not sure how the much the girls liked this one!). When people entered and tried on the tops a secret door opened and they were surprised by the Ajax team players in a hidden party room. See the results above.

Google Play: Google Play Test

The boffins at The Google Studio G, USA, have been up to their tricks again coming up with clever ways of showing off Google product offerings, this time Google Play. To show that with Google Play you can enjoy your music, apps, and films on all your devices anywhere, with no cables, they created the below clips. Watch more at http://goo.gl/aoB27.

ArtPlan: The Social Home Tour

Brazilian agency ArtPlan helped the countries largest construction company, Carvalho Hosken, launch its new luxury venture based on a tailor home made concept. Visitors logged into facebook before they visited the show home and when they arrived digital photo frames and TV’s showed family albums, and their favourite films, giving a personal touch to the showing.

During the period the tours took place, 28% of the visits resulted in purchases, three times the usual rate. Great work.
