Sport Club Recife: Immortal Fans

It’s Cannes week, so there are bound to be lots of wonderful bits of work from all over the world popping up. The first one that won big, winning a Grand Prix for Promo & Activation work, was Ogilvy & Mather Brasil’s "Immortal Fans" for Sport Club Recife. At it’s best advertising has the power to shape society and change lives, this work shows just that.

Ogilvy and Sport Club Recife introduced the world’s first ever organ donor card from a football team, encouraging football fans to become immortal fans by registering as donors. Over 51,000 people have registered for a card, and organ donation in Brazil has increased by 41%. Watch the case study above for more info.

Learn, Unlearn, Relearn

Above is a talk I made for the recent Integrated Marketing Conference in Cape Town, entitled Learn, Unlearn, Relearn.
The talk takes you through a brief history of advertising, showing what has changed, what is new, and what has fundamentally remained the same.
It also shares some tips and advice on how to help make sure your work remains relevant in today’s ever evolving world.
I gave the talk with our ECD Chris Gotz and deputy MD Luca Gallarelli, both from Ogilvy Cape Town.

Huggies: Dad’s pregnant too

Interesting short case study for Huggies from Ogilvy & Mather, Argentina. They created a pregnancy belt that replicates in real time the movements and kicks of a baby from a mum’s tummy to dad’s belly. Although this doesn’t really do the belt justice, I would imagine the emotional sensation pretty incredible for the soon to be dads.

Adobe: Street Retouch

Clever activation for Adobe’s Adobe Creative Day event happening today. The activation was put together by Swedish agency Abby Norm. They hired Photoshop retouch wizard Erik Johansson (operating from a nearby van) to real time create images of people waiting for a bus stop, and then live post those pictures on a screen at that very bus stop. See how people reacted in the video above.

Volkswagen: Golf GTI My Way

In case you haven’t seen it here is the latest Volkswagen GTI ad from London agency Adam&Eve DDB

IBM: People For Smarter Cities

IBM creates solutions that help cities all over the world get smarter, in order to make life in those cities better.
So Ogilvy Paris and IBM worked together to create the above urban campaign to spark positive change with the “People for Smarter Cities” project. The project aims to get suggestions and ideas from people in cities that will help their city work better. To spread the word, they created outdoor advertising with a purpose: a bench, a shelter and a ramp that are not only designed to be beautiful, but to be useful to city dwellers as well.

Samsung: All eyes on the S4

Fantastic activation idea for the new Samsung Galaxy S4 from Switzerland. People were challenged to a staring competition to win either a free or discounted phone. The challenge used the Galaxy S4’s inbuilt Smart Pause function that lets the S4 knows when someone is looking at it. The longer a participant stared at the screen, the bigger the discount. Distractions were given throughout, and S4’s were awarded for free to those that lasted the full 60 minutes.

Cadbury: Say It With Chocolate

Another nice piece of work from Ogilvy, this time OgilvyAction, Kuala Lumpur. In a world filled with social media where written words often have little real meaning, Cadbury Dairy Milk gave people the chance to write something sincere for once. They created stalls that allowed people to stamp their own personal message stamped and hidden on the back of Cadbury’s chocolate bars.

Holland: The original cool

Wonderful new campaign for Holland tourism in Amsterdam. The campaign proposes that the country everyone knows for canals and wooden shoes is actually the original coolest city on earth. Watch it and be ready ready to want to book a flight. Great work by the Mustache Agency in New York.
