Here is an offer to anyone in Cape Town that I hope you will like. If you want to test drive any or all of the VW cars above (See image above), all you need to do is turn up anytime between 10am-4pm this Friday or next Monday (10th & 14th June) at the Car Park just behind Ogilvy Cape Town (New Market Street, click here for a map). Once there you will be able to take any or all of the cars for a test drive.

All you need to remember to bring is a valid driver’s licence, yourself, and your driving gloves.

Great work from @Cuanan and @captainjenifer for our Ogilvy Cape Town Shavathon, it will be held this Friday at our Buzz Bar in order to raise money for the Cansa Association of South Africa.

To help promote the campaign they shaved the heads of 3 staff members and used the hair to create the posters!. You can see the videos of some of the guys getting a buzz on the Ogilvy Cape Town YouTube page here!. (See one below)

A stunning new campaign from Nando’s parodying the new much talked about CellC ads just landed in my inbox. The new ads are from Nando’s agency Black River FC.

Below is a copy of the email I received. Have a stunning Friday everyone.

Nando’s: Mexicans Free Lunch

More Great work from Black River FC for Nando’s. This time the chaps are promising to feed Mexicans for free if they lose the World Cup Football match tomorrow against South Africa in Johannesburg. The small text reads:

“ Dear Mexican Player, most foreigners think S.A is rife with bribery and corruption. To live up to your misconceptions, we’re offering you and your spectators a free lunch if you lose on Friday. Just bring your valid Mexican passport into any Nando’s restaurant between 14h00 and 17h00 and we’ll give you a delicious flame-grilled quarter chicken and chips each. Free.

p.s. If you don’t have a passport, we’re sure someone can arrange one for you.”

Steri Stumpie Desk Invasion Challenge

photo After all the recent celebrating of South African heritage/braai day, and the Loeries etc its hard to be back at work as normal, so the wonderful Tessa from Steri Stumpie has kindly given me a whole bunch of what I’m promised are uber-rad limited edition steri goodies – including a supply of the two new flavours.

To win these we’re running a bosses desk invasion challenge – you send us pictures of you posing on your bosses desk or similar with a Steri Stumpie and we pick the most deserving one to win. Bonus points if your boss is someone really important (like Jacob Zuma or something). I’ll need the photos by mid day this Friday (2nd of October) and then will announce the winner that same afternoon.

Audi Centre Cape Town MVP day

Last Friday I had the pleasure of helping to organise the first of what I hope will become many Audi Centre Cape Town MVP days. The basic idea was to see if we could use some fun non-traditional media methods to help advertise and get some nice PR for Audi Centre Cape Town.

I chatted to Audi Cape Town and put forward the idea and thanks to the incredible Wernich Stipp we got the go ahead for a fun morning out. Audi Cape Town then kindly agreed to lend us 4 new cars for the day namely the Q5, A4, A5, TT (and an R8 for a surprise drive).

I arranged for our half way drive stopping point to be at local rugby legend Bob Skinstad’s place in Noordhoek, namely the incredible Toad in the Village (A must visit for anyone staying in Cape Town). Bob even kindly was there to say hi before he left to cover the Tri-Nations (See pic above).

At the Toad we then pulled a name out of a hat for a drive in the Audi R8 and Gabrielle Rosario took the honours, getting to drive it back to town. Finally we ended the day up at Theo’s restaurant in Mouille point, where Audi kindly bought us all a late lunch and even gave us gift bags for coming !!

Audi Centre Cape Town are legends, I have been blown away. For all the pictures from the day click on the Album link below.

The group consisted of Joe Botha, Cath Lückhoff, Matt Buckland, Marilu Matthee, Scott Hayes, Elodie Kleynhans, Gabrielle Rosario and myself. Big Thanks to everyone for coming along and helping out and am looking forward to seeing how this evolves !

Microsoft help to rock the CT 27 dinner

This Friday will see the return of the first Cape Town 27 Dinner for 2009

As opposed to the normal speaking routine we have a little treat in for attendees this month. Microsoft will be coming to the party and will give a talk on some of the most innovative and exiting projects they are up to at the moment such as Silverlight, Windows 7 and Surface, etc. After the talks we are going to have a bit of a Guitar hero Xbox360 jamming competition to see who can rock the Mother city bowl the hardest. Prizes will be given out to the winners (Hat tip to Microsoft) and as always wine will be there by Stormhoek.

P.S If you don’t know what 27 dinners are they are basically a gathering on the 27th of every month alternating between Cape Town and Joburg of SA’s young brightest and best minds in Tech, Media and business. There are usually 2-3 speakers talking about new/interesting projects and its a great place to network and get to know all the best looking people in South Africa !

The event will take place on Friday the 23rd of March from 6pm onwards at the Stormhoek wine birthing farm just outside Wellington. We have been making sure this will be a evening you wont forget, The following are just some of the incredible attractions we have in store for you so be sure to bring a camera.
