Honda and Wieden + Kennedy, London, have extended their original “Impossible Dream” commercial to include some of Honda’s newest and future products such as their new private jet, the latest Asimo robot, and their new hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. This time our bearded, singing gent makes it full circle, leaving his house in the original Honda motorbike, and returning in a future fuel cell bike after driving Honda’s other incredible machines.
Heineken and TBWA, Amsterdam, have outdone themselves and created another new man friendly beer ad called “Men with Talent”. This follows on from their epic 2009 “Walk in Fridge” commercial, to help promote the commercial they even ran fake adverts for the “Men with Talent” show on local TV stations.
Great work, think I still prefer the original though.
Last week DDB, Stockholm released this great interactive billboard example created for McDonald’s.
The general idea is to catch a picture with your phone of items available at McDonalds such as a cup of coffee or a pie etc as they whizz across the screen. At the end of each challenge the billboard points the way towards the nearest McDonalds where you can claim any of the items you caught with your phone’s camera for free. Simple and brilliant.
God bless Axe and their forever tongue in cheek ad campaigns. This latest beauty was created for Earth day last week and explains the benefits of shower pooling (and it’s consequences if not heeded).
To celebrate Ché magazines 10th anniversary. Ché is a Belgian men’s magazine, in this man friendly spot you see one mans babysitter dream coming true. Love the bottle joke.
Holland Vodka brand EFFEN and ad agency Euro RSCG have recently released this nice tongue in cheek print campaign. Apart from the double entendre copy such as “There’s nothing more satisfying than EFFEN on a plane”, the bottle itself is also pretty nifty. Each bottle has a rubber sleeve around it, making the bottle less prone to slipping through the hands, and also helping to insulate the bottle. Clever stuff, that and the fact I’m always partial to an Air Hostess or two.
Last week my good friends Vincent Maher and Nic Haralambous, invited me to a sneak peak at a new mobile game developed by Vodacom called Legends of Echo. Vince and Nic just happen to look after Vodacom’s Social Media, and together re-launched the Grid (a mobile location based social network) last year with great success.
Legends of Echo is the first mobile phone location based online social game to be made in South Africa. Basically you play the game in a parallel virtual universe based on the South African map. Instead of cities and skyscrapers, however, players will find rolling green fields and rocky outcrops to explore and establish their base. From there players choose a tribe (Fire, Water, Earth, Air, or Industry) and can battle each other to gain “Legend points”. Players can trade and purchase weapons, armour and other items, as well as chatting to players live whilst in the game. Players locations in real life are duplicated in the game using Vodacom’s location based services.
Live score boards of all players “Legend” points are kept, the aim being to top the score board. Prizes and bonus items etc will be given out periodically to top players.
At present the game is only available to handsets that play Java games, i.e most Sony Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung phones. No smart phones like iPhone, or Google Android handsets are supported for now, However a Blackberry version is in the works so expect other mobile devises to be covered in the near future when the game takes off.
To download Legends of Echo for free just visit http://legendsofecho.com ( The Game will work with any network provider, your normal data charges apply).
Was having drink with Sir Justin Hartman last night and he showed me this incredible new Apple iPad app from Atomic Antelope. It’s called “Alice for the iPad” and animates the original drawings from John Tenniel‘s 1885 illustrations of the Lewis Carroll book “Alice in wonderland”.
If you’re a creative or in publishing please watch the video above and just think of the possibilities. Hopefully the first of many more to come !
The Apocalypse Now’s “Adagio For Strings” soundtrack makes it. If you like the above check out their first new effort that aired a couple of weeks ago called Warburtons Hero (click here).
