Nike Sportswear: Kronk South Africa 2010

Chris Rawlinson,Kris Hewitt, Nick Herbert Kronk Nike Sprotswear  Kronk Launch Kronk Party Kronk

Recently the kind chaps at Shelf Life invited me to the Cape Town Launch of a new Nike Sportswear range made for the 2010 World Cup by local popular designer Kris Hewitt Aka Kronk.

Nike chose 6 countries and 6 designers to design an exclusive limited edition range Knronk shelflife partyentitled “Bleed your Colours”. The countries chosen were USA, Holland, Brazil, France, South Africa, and the UK.

This is the first ever Nike Sportsware collaboration with a South African artist and personally I found Kronks range to be the best, I even bought one of the shirts myself.

If you like the look of the Nike Kronk range you can buy it for a limited time at Shelf Life, the range starts at R499 and goes up to R899 depending on your choice of attire.

The party was fantastic; free drinks, street fashion, Kronk signings,  and some fab intriguing company (including a talented American photographer named Jared)

Shelf Life is an incredible store based in the heart of Cape Town that sells exclusive limited ranges of street wear clothing and sneakers from the worlds top brands, they have been featured in Elle and Vogue magazine, and many other international publications. Shelf Life also happens to be a great graffiti supply store if that’s more your thing. If you’re in the Mother City click here for directions and have a look around.

Check out the brilliant video below made for the launch of the range featuring Kronk himself (check him at 35 sec in)

Nando’s: Topless for Ama Visitors

Above is a fantastic South African commercial for Nando’s restaurants. The clip shows South African hotties going topless to make the visitors feel more at home with the expected African stereotypes. Some great cheesy copy is also included such as “Nice puppies, mind if I stroke them?” (man to a topless girl with some dogs).

Enjoy, and huge hat tip to http://www.10and5.com/ for the find.

Ogilvy: 2010 World Showreel

Over the weekend Ogilvy London released this great showreel of some the best work they have done world wide so far from 2009 –2010 year. The clips showcase campaigns for:

  • American Express, USA: Great ad, hard to go wrong with Tina Fey and Martin Scorsese.
  • Perrier water, Europe: Not my bag but nice effects.
  • WAM Hair Removal, Japan: This one is from SE Asia and is truly bizarre, love it.
  • Shreddies, Canada: Overview on the highly successful Shreddies diamond campaign.
  • Burger King, LATAM: An Overview on the Burger King Whooper Face campaign, where customers had pictures of their faces printed on the burger wrapping. Stunning campaign.
  • Fight Global Warming, USA: Brilliant yet simple commercial, worth a watch to see the polar bears models come alive.
  • Hopenhagen (UN), Worldwide: The UN must have been very impressed with the results of this campaign. In 90 days Ogilvy got 350 global partners to donate $400m in media publicity, reaching more than a billion people in 50 countries !.

Great work Ogilvy, keep it up.

Nike: Write The Future

Nike have teamed up with Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, to create an epic World Cup ad featuring Some of the world’s best players. The commercial shows how different star players could write their future during the South African 2010 World Cup..

The commercial features a ton of football legends including Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Franck Ribery, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Patrice Evra, Gerard Pique, Ronaldinho, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Thiago Silva !! The cast is completed with guest performances by tennis legend Roger Federer, basketball superstar Kobe Bryant. and my personal favourite Homer Simpson.

I would love to know how much cash they spent on that !

The ad will be shown on TV for the first time on May 22nd during the European Club Final.

Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Tea Party

This clip is a a little old but when I stumbled across it the other day I thought it too good to not share with you. The video shows Jason Jones of The Daily Show visiting the New York Times and teasing them about selling “aged news” amongst many other hilarious things.

It’s a bit like a “new media” against “old media” rant, but all in good humour.

Fortnight Lingerie: Super Sexy CPR

Canadian underwear brand Fortnight Lingerie have just launched a brilliantly raunchy yet educational video entitled “Super Sexy CPR”.

The clip shows two lingerie clad models showing how CPR should be done, including mouth to mouth, and some great copy such as “Find a landmark between the nipples and begin chest compressions”.

Keep an eye out for their next educational video clip entitled “Super Sexy Abdominal Thrusts” due to air 1st June.

Hi-Tec: Walking on Water Viral (Liquid Mountaineering)

Hi-Tec has come up with a brilliantly successful viral campaign featuring a group of people supposedly running on water. The video suggests the sport is called Liquid Mountaineering and shows a few chaps running on water for several metres at a time before falling in.

So far the video has been viewed over 2.5 million times since it was published at the end of last month (28th April). The giveaway for the video is the huge amount of Hi-Tec branding and the close ups on the Adventure Sport range of Hi-Tec shoes used for the running on water stunts. (The other giveaway is that people can’t run on water).

Hi-Tec also created a fake blog for the Liquid Mountaineering team, go to http://bit.ly/hitecblog to visit the site. The blog shows early attempts at running on water in Gerês, Portugal.

Local news stations in the USA have even been caught out reporting the story is true !. Congrats to the agency involved.

BBC World Cup 2010 Montage

As the World Cup is just around the corner we are starting to see some nice football themed campaigns popping up from around the world. This is a great montage from the BBC by RKCR/Y&R.

On a semi related note I had a call earlier this afternoon from my local Spar supermarket in Cape Town to say I had won a Coca Cola World Cup hamper ! check out my prize below (Am loving the Jabulani Adidas football)

Wilkinson Sword: Nuts and Bolts Trimmer

Wilkinson Sword and JWT are at it again with another fun double entendre campaign for their new Quattro Titanium Body razor. This time the clip is an instructional video on how to shave your cock and balls nuts and bolts without damaging them. Give it a go guys if that’s your thing, Wilkinson Sword promises “Your tools will be easier to find and handle” !

To see all the instructional videos go to www.hairoffmystuff.com

Regular readers will remember their similar cheeky campaign from JWT for the Wilkinson Sword Lady trimmers, if you missed it, click here to have another laugh.

Amour: You Won’t Watch For The Acting

Very fun video for Amour, a Canadian adult TV station. The clips were done by Cossette, Canada, and feature the tag line "You won’t watch for the acting".

The clips feature several bimbos trying to audition and run lines, all failing miserably, however the interviewer is more enlightened by the boobs than the brains.
