The Thug Kitchen Cook Book is full of simple vegetarian recipes in plain English….with a large pinch of swear words. The book’s tag line fits with the ad and asks people to “Eat like you give a f*ck”. Debatable if this will be hugely popular, but at least it certainly stands out from the crowd. Jeff Goldblum makes possibly the best light bulb ad ever
![]()
GE and BBDO New York have made possibly the best light bulb ad ever….admittedly there is likely little competition…but it’s still good.
The ad features Jeff Goldblum showing off GE’s Link connected LED bulbs and Wink Hub, that allows you to control the bulbs from your phone. The product actually looks pretty great, and it’s very well priced, if only I was in the USA and could buy them….
Citizen watches chase and photograph sunsets in every time zone in one flight
![]()
Citizen watches managed to chase and capture sunsets at every time zone in one flight.
The stunt was accomplished by flying westward at just the right speed (289.95kmph), and at just the right latitude (80°), from Reykjavik in Iceland to the Arctic Circle.
The ad was made to show off their new Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100 watch, which automatically adjusts via satellite to new time zones in just three seconds.
I really want to try this now. The work was done by Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam and Tokyo, and the pilot and photographer were Jonathan Nicol and Simon Roberts.
KLM hire an adorable dog to return your Lost and Found items
![]()
KLM have trained up a really cute dog to help them reunite Lost and Found items with their owners.
All this looks great, and the 9 million plus YouTube views is sure helping with some nice PR for KLM…however this is just an ad stunt by DDB Amsterdam.
KLM do have a pretty impressive social team though, so although you may not find a dog returning any lost items on your next KLM flight, you will at least likely find a nice human instead.
Pedigree create a radio station for dogs
![]()
Studies show that leaving the radio on for your dog while you’re out of the house can help it stay relaxed and calm, particularly classical music, so Pedigree made a radio station for dogs.
The station has relaxing music, messages for dogs from their owners, and even fictional dog friendly fantasy stories. Brilliant radio work by Colenso BBDO, Auckland.
A Day in the life of Starbucks–1 Day, 59 Stores, 28 Countries

Starbucks ads are normally pretty boring, but today they have launched an interesting mini documentary covering a day in the life of Starbucks. It’s shot at 59 different stores in 28 countries, using 39 local filmmakers, with ad agency 72andSunny coordinating it all over a 24 hour period.
The ads are both below but the full interactive documentary can be found for now at https://www.youtube.com/user/Starbucks in case you want to delve deeper.
The short film shows how good things happen when we get to together, and luckily for Starbucks, their coffee shops are one such place that happens regularly.
Kudos to Starbucks for shooting an ad without showing a single cup of coffee, and instead just featuring their customers.

The new Toyota Aygo can pee like a dog
![]()
Saatchi & Saatchi, Dusseldorf, created a Toyota Aygo that can lift up it’s rear and take a pee.
The stunt used a hydraulic lift and a water pump to simulate the car relieving itself on other cars, a portable loo, and of course a dog.
Interesting experiment although I’m not sure what this says about the car (supposedly that it’s fun), would make an interesting optional extra though.
World’s first banner ad that helps you read much faster
![]()
Ever wanted to read faster? well if you find this Cellcom banner ad now you can.
To help promote the network’s new 4.5G service they created a smart banner ad for a few popular news sites in Israel.
Normally, a person reads around 180 words per minute, and 80% of reading is wasted on eye movement from left to right. The technique behind The Speed Reading Banner is called RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) which shows the user only 1 word at a time, enabling you to read up to 400 words per minute and even faster. Flying Quadcopter Lamp Shades Star in new Cirque du Soleil act
![]()
Flying lampshades anyone? Cirque du Soleil, ETH Zurich, & Verity Studios have partnered to develop a short film featuring 10 quadcopters in a pretty stunning flying dance performance.
The collaboration resulted in the film below uses no special effects. Pretty sure we will see advertising / pranks using similar tricks soon.
There is also a wonderful behind the scenes video available at http://youtu.be/7YqUocVcyrE.
Volvo Trucks Prank a Casino Valet on The Italian Riviera
![]()
Volvo Trucks are back with another stunt, except this time it’s more of a prank. Together with their agency Forsmann & Bodenfors, they take us to the Italian Riviera, where a Casino valet gets pranked. All the people in this film are actors apart from the valet.
Would have been infinitely better if this featured Jean-Claude Van Dam as the driver….
