VW Golf: The Letter

August 25, 2010 by admin

Lovely spot for the new VW Golf, from Try, Oslo. The story tell of a man who suspects his wife is up to no good, however the new VW Golf proves to be a huge distraction.

Cadbury Tumbles are being re-launched and are going large. Cadbury agency “Promise”, JHB, created the above ad featuring Tumbles chocolates going around an obstacle course featuring lots of boys toys like model cars, crossbows, fireworks, and even a garden gnome. Personally I would have loved to see the girl fall in the water at the end, but regardless I am all of a sudden hungry for some chocolate. Below are some fun facts for the above campaign: The ad was shot in a single take and the machine actually worked • 17 000 Tumbles were weighed to get 8 suitably sized balls to trigger the machine • It took 6 weeks to build the machine • The tracks for the cars expanded and contracted due to changes in temperature, thus the room had to remain at a constant temperature for the machine to work • The balloons had to be filled with the correct amount of helium for each take in order for the machine to function correctly • The Tumble snapped up by the dog in the final scene was in fact a doggy treat as our fury friends do not eat chocolate!

Carlton Draught: Slo Mo

August 20, 2010 by admin

It has been a while since I have written about a Carlton Draught ad but thankfully Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne, has released the above beaut. The spot features some great slo mo footage of people at a pub on a night out, as well as a stunning Pavarotti style musical track. Enjoy.

These have to be two of the funniest infomercials I have everyseen, and no its not a joke, its a real product. The product is called the Shake weight (click to see the web site). Both the clips are going viral at the moment, and YouTube users have left some great comments such as “My shake weight is free ladies” and “SHAKE THAT WEIGHT MAN! SHAKE IT HARDER!!!". Brilliant, I dare you not to find this amusing! (For an extra laugh listen to the guys one without watching the video, it even sounds dodgy).

Cadbury: Flying Ostrich

August 17, 2010 by admin

Lovely work from Saatchi & Saatchi, South Africa, for Cadburys Chocolate, especially as I had some Ostrich for supper the other night (not the one shown above). The spot shows a daring Ostrich taking a leap out of an aeroplane and attempting to fly before pulling a Cadburys parachute and heading on down to terra firma safely. Saatchi have also tied the TV ad into a nice custom website at http://www.glassandahalf.co.za/ where users can win up to R300,000 and play an ostrich game.

Nando’s: Jackie Selebi Print

Another beaut print from Nando’s, this time poking fun at recently sentenced ex South African Police head Jackie Selebi. Great work again from Nando’s agency Black River FC.

Ogilvy & Mather, London have just released this fun sing-along number for Dove’s new damage therapy hair care range. One thing that puzzles me though is that the final shot seems a bit against the “Dove Evolution” campaign meme of “Campaign for Real Beauty”.

BrewDog Beer: Beer in a Stuffed Animal

BrewDog has just produced one of the worlds most expensive, and strongest beers called “The End Of History”. The fine Scottish ale is 55% Alcohol and comes bottled complete in a taxidermied rodent (choose from stuffed stoat or grey squirrel. See pictures below !). If you want to stand out from the crowd this is one way of doing it. BrewDog describe themselves as “A beacon of non-conformity in a increasingly monotone corporate desert”. They certainly nailed the non conformity with this above promo clip for their new crazy beer. Please let me know if anyone has tried this, as at £500 per bottle I’m intrigued to find out if it tastes like beer heaven.
