Cape Town, Green Point Stadium Tour
Thanks to Aslam Levy from Cape Town Tourism I had the pleasure of taking a VIP tour of Cape Town’s new 2010 World Cup Green Point stadium. Legend Matt Buckland joined me for the tour as well as local CT hero’s Gaby Rosario and Lindi King. Personally I think the Green Point stadium will become one of the worlds best, not due to its capacity but because of its architecture and idyllic placing in one of the worlds most beautiful cities. If the local Western Provence / Stormers rugby team doesn’t make this their new home stadium I will be amazed ( and they will be foolish). To find out more about the stadium and to book tours go to www.greenpointstadiumvc.co.za. Green Point Stadium Facts
- The Stadium will cost approx R4.5 billion
- Green Point Stadium is due for completion by mid December 2009.
- Capacity will be 68,000 for the 2010 world cup (55,000 after the world cup)
- Basement parking for 1200 cars
- 16 lifts throughout the stadium
- 250 VIP suits
- Stadium footprint is equivalent to six city blocks, 50m tall, 15 storey building
- Design uses natural light for ambience and to save energy; the façade is covered with an open mesh fabric that plays with natural light
- The roof acts as acoustic dampening to make the stadium ideal for music concerts

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited to a great night out for the Launch of Glacéau VitaminWater in Cape Town. The brand has been one of the most successful new drink brands to be launched in the last 7 years (Its the top enhanced water brand in the USA) and its great to finally have it in South Africa. The range comes in 6 guises namely Power-C, Essential, Energy, Super-V, Revive and xxx. The drinks are made from reversed osmosis water and have been infused with vitamin goodness, with each one possessing different key vitamins and fruit flavours (Also no artificial flavours and low cal) I have tried the brand before many times and what I most like about them is that to me they all taste good and fresh with a pleasant aftertaste unlike a lot of flavoured water, and I must admit I do feel a bit of a good natural energy boost after drinking them. The brand is also pretty famous for having US Rapper 50 cent as a shareholder in the brand, who initially helped to endorse the product (in return for Shares) by several ways including the great short ad shown below. VitaminWater should be in stores nationwide in the coming weeks so keep a look out and give it a go.

This Friday will see the return of the first Cape Town 27 Dinner for 2009 As opposed to the normal speaking routine we have a little treat in for attendees this month. Microsoft will be coming to the party and will give a talk on some of the most innovative and exiting projects they are up to at the moment such as Silverlight, Windows 7 and Surface, etc. After the talks we are going to have a bit of a Guitar hero Xbox360 jamming competition to see who can rock the Mother city bowl the hardest. Prizes will be given out to the winners (Hat tip to Microsoft) and as always wine will be there by Stormhoek. The venue we have secured is called Doppio Zero in Mandela Rhodes place (Map Below) and the evening will start at 6.30pm, places are limited and we already are near capacity, but if you’re keen go to www.27dinner.com to sign up and be sure to join the Facebook group too for future updates or if you prefer your messages within a 140 character limit follow us on Twitter at @27Dinner. P.S If you don’t know what 27 dinners are they are basically a gathering on the 27th of every month alternating between Cape Town and Joburg of SA’s young brightest and best minds in Tech, Media and business. There are usually 2-3 speakers talking about new/interesting projects and its a great place to network and get to know all the best looking people in South Africa !
