Philips: Carousel

Fantastic promo video for Philips new Cinema 21:9 LCD TV panels. The film is directed by Adam Berg and made by Stink Digital. They created a great website to launch the product:  www.philips.co.uk/cinema. The site hosts an exclusive fully interactive movie, entitled Carousel. It is filmed in one continuous tracking shot and offers an interactive exploration into the world of movies being made for the cinema screen through the eyes of the director and the special effects and lighting experts.

Get ready for another screen aspect ratio choice for your TV, this time from Philips. Yes just as you thought having a 16:9 Widescreen TV was the way forward, along comes Philips and introduces the full Cinema 21:9 TV. The reason for this is that Cinema’s normally project films in 21:9 and so that is why some people still find black bars at the top and bottom of DVD’s/Blue Ray films.

21:9 perfectly matches the original movie format used by directors, so you get no black bars or picture loss, just movies the way the director intended them to be seen. Don’t hold back buying a new TV though as most DVD’s and Blue Ray discs come pre-edited for 16:9 so we will see if this is hot or a fad (I,m saying fad unless money is no object to you, or more companies start producing similar panels, so think 2-3 years if at all)
