Petit Caveau

Last week I had the honour of being invited to the launch of a fantastic new concept by a South African Wine company called Signal Hill.
Signal Hill is run by a great French chap called Jean-Vincent Ridon and is the main man behind bringing the “la joie de vivre” as he likes to say, back to the heart of Cape Town. The new winery and bistro called Petit Caveau is located in the city centre and will produce around forty thousand bottles of fine Cape vintages each year.
The design of the building is open plan allowing city folk and tourists the chance to view the entire wine making process of de-stemming, crushing, fermentation, barrelling, bottling and labelling, right on the premises. Many of the grapes come from within the city’s reaches such as Oranjezicht , Camps Bay and Kalk Bay.
Petit Caveau will serve light bistro meals from 10am to 7pm and the Barrel Room will be available for functions, wine tasting and wine making courses catering for up to 50 guests. No Stormhoek is available there as yet but as the owner is a great friend of Stormhoek boss and all around legend Graham Knox, expect to see a guest appearance of our fine wine in the near future (most likely Pino grigio :).
If your in town why not pop by and visit them at:-Signal Hill, Mandela Rhodes Place, Church Street, Cape Town (off St Georges Mall).Tel 021 4225206
