Wikipedia to challange Google

The nice chaps that bought us Wikipedia, the tool that allows us all to look up anything and get an answer in a second!, is now going to launch their own Internet search engine to compete with Google, Yahoo and MSN live.

Wikipedia is an Internet based free encyclopedia that anyone can edit and since its launch in 2003, has become a tool used daily by millions around the world. The founder Jimmy Wales will launch the new search engine called Wikiasari in the first quarter of 2007. The name for this new search engine apparently has HawaiianJapanese origins, wiki meaning quick (Hawaiian) and Asari meaning rummaging search (Japanese).

In an interview Wikipedia man, Jimmy said “Google is very good at many types of search, but in many instances it produces nothing but spam and useless crap. Try searching for the term ‘Tampa hotels’, for example, and you will not get any useful results.”

I look forward to bringing you more on this story as it unfolds and hope your all having a fab festive season. Till next time Good luck to Wikiasari and anyone trying to look for a hotel in Tampa!.
