Cape towns wireless trend

So here i am its a sunny day and for a change the normal gale force wind is not blowing!, where better to go for a break than a stunning belgium bistro here on vibey Kloof street.

I have been coming to this place for some time now and am amazed at the trend that seems to be taking the town by storm, Free wirless internet all day long and all you need to do is get your caffine fix or any other hydrating liquid of your choice and then the friendly waiter (or to be PC Waitron!) gives you the wep key and you can surf to your hearts content!.

I know this is not that much of a novel idea, however here in sunny South Africa we are stuck with one telecoms provider so private costs are generally high compaired with other countrys, because of this you can walk into any bar that has free wirless internet and be guarenteed to find people of all shapes and sizes clicking away. This trend has had a pleasant effect for day time busines and here at Gainsbourg on kloof the owner has no regrets, it was a service he had to pay for anyway, and a great way to attract a new crowd and fill the place at a normally quiet time of day.

Off the top of my head these are the following other restaurants in cape town providing this service:

  • Gainsbough- Kloof street
  • 5 park rd- Park rd, near the lifestyle centre on Kloof st
  • The Nose Bar/restaurant- Cape Quarter
  • Mugged- Roeland street in coty center
  • Cafe Neo- Moulle point on sea front road

If anyone knows of more in Cape town please email me or post them below.

Till next time have a fun and be good, if not take photos!.
